What exactly is Theosophy? What famous people have practices it, publicly or privately?

November 20th, 2009 by admin received 1 Comment »

I know it has something to do with the occult, but how do they view the world? What do they see as being the meaning of life? What ultimate truth do they seek, etc?

    These links should help you.

Theosophists were really more about learning metaphysics, then performing any metaphysical practices. If you’re looking for people that really delved into ritual headlong, then look to ceremonial magicians and their Qabalistic and occult materials.

Theosophy was heavily into blending the knowledge of the East with the West. This was WAY before Eastern knowledge was easily accessible outside of the East. So a great deal of this wisdom was groundbreaking in its time. Theosophy was looking to find the universal root wisdom, by examining the Eastern and Western wisdom and where they intersected and could be combined into a new whole. Much of the Theosophic thinking was channelled material, as well.
